Thanks Marian. Yes, XP sounds like the way to go. I've been lazy about booting it up. Never got back to it to try to resolve my 80 Days issue, in fact. I hadn't Googled about the solitaire issue. I just assume it will eventually work itself out. If not, oh well. It takes my time away from other things I should/could be doing .

I am playing the Bonus round on The Legacy: The Tree of Might, and have to sound the Horn of Excellence for this game. I first played it in 2018, and marked it for Replay. Boy, what great (naturalistic!) graphics, decent voice acting, a plethora of challenging and unique puzzles to solve and an alien world that keeps on going. I've spent nearly three days on this game. The characters don't do stupid things so that they'll generate in the next "problem" to solve in an alien world; they think and act like a wise person would do. It has just the right amount of note-taking and map-following that adds to a game without burying you. There are no false notes, everything fits in its place and nothing boots you out of the magic. This is among the longest-lasting games in the Casual group that I've played. I also played Forgotten Gates in 2017 and already replayed it as well.
Looking at my spreadsheet, I notice two other games in this series that I skipped after trying the Demo. The Prisoner, was one I played and didn't like at all ("Too easy, a find-and-use-it game, bad puzzles, bailed on the Demo"), and Witch Island Origin ("way too easy, silly music, popups, you name it, bailed out"). This illustrates why, even though I may give up on a game, I still will try subsequent games in that series, just in case.

I restarted Drawn for the 3rd time (well, 2nd restart) in my XP computer and played almost to where I first had a problem. Had to conquer one nasty puzzle 3 times and one 2 times . I hope I can make it to the end of the game this time! I'm also still playing the Faircroft's Antiques game. No problems yet, just not a game I can play for too long.

I agree with you, Mad. We all are such different people, with varying reasons for playing these games. It is a good thing the developers aren't all the same in their approach to game style and difficulty, releasing the same type of game each time. If the games didn't vary, and thereby allow some choice in style and difficulty, you'd expect some players to quit buying after a while. The way BF set up things, everyone can find something to meet her taste at a given time. Being allowed to play a Demo before buying is a vital facet in that strategy, too, letting us see what we'd be getting and not being disappointed after buying. So, the system works quite well as it stands.

I'm a bit stumped now. I finished the game ( The Legacy: The Tree of Might) and finished the Bonus Chapter as well, but it suddenly ended in suspense ~ with what felt like a challenge ~ ("Don't let (the evil one) reach the Tree of Might." ). I was so surprised. Is that the way the game ends? Is there a sequel? Should I look for another game in this series?

The changes in software are a real pain in terms of revisiting older games: I have reconfigured my iMac to keep an older operating system for most of my Steam games (and a few others) partitioned on the same hard drive with the facility to switch between the two, but I am not sure that you can do that on a Windows machine.
