Thank you all!
It's raining and cool, I have absolutely nothing to do for the first time in three weeks, and I actually got a full night's sleep. I'm planning on doing absolutely nothing. Drink some coffee, eat the leftovers from yesterday's lunch (walnut "sausage" blue cheese and roasted garlic -- yum!), watch some TV, hang out with the cats and basically schlepp around in my dressing gown.
I've had enough time over the last week to start decoding some of Dude's behaviours. He will come up onto my desk for a minute or two and bug me, and it seems like he wants something that isn't food. Turns out he wants me to sit at the dining room table while he sits in front of me for a through grooming session, the whole cat, belly and all. It's accompanied by loud purring and drooling, licking my hand and head-butting.
The other behaviour I've just discovered is that he likes to fetch. There's one little mouse toy he's obsessed with, and he will retrieve it, and only it. Very funny. Even funnier when Willow tries to intercept.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
