Is this a wired or a wireless mouse? Are you saying you tried a different mouse and had the same thing happen in both places? If that's the case, then it probably isn't the mouse.

So, the problem is not the mouse then. So, spreadsheet first. To highlight multiple cells, I first click on a cell, press the Shift key and then the last cell and everything in between is highlighted. Or I click in a cell and hold down left mouse button and drag the mouse. And neither of those is working for you? Have you tried plugging the mouse into a different USB port? I had a bunch of hits searching for drag function not working Windows 10. This is a recent one. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-10/fc89ea69-f854-4142-b5b3-32892607ff8d

Did you try the fix I found in the search for "drag function not working?"

Good then! Let us know if it happens again since my search indicates this is not uncommon.

You could try the tips from this site: I would jump to #4 first and see if that helps, good luck:

Note: the link above somehow needs to be copied and pasted, don't know why in this case

Thanks Starcom but guess what. I can't highlight it to do the copy and paste because of my mouse problem. Maybe tomorrow. Well, I was able to get it by using the Shift key but I am afraid to "uninstall device" for fear it will never come back. I'm even having trouble getting the emoji screen to open. I'm wondering if the last Windows update did something to mess it up and am hoping the next update will fix it.

I was going to suggest going into your Device Manager and uninstalling the mouse. Then reboot which will pick up the mouse and reinstall it. Just make sure it's plugged in when you reboot. Right click on the white Windows icon in the lower left to bring up a list where you can find Device Manager.
I wouldn't think TWO mice could have issues, but I guess it's not out of the question. As I told you this appears to be a fairly common issue as when I did a search for "drag and drop not working Windows 10" I got a ton of hits.

Let's hope it stays that way. You suspected from Day 1 that might be the problem. Fingers crossed for you!
