Gerry, the emaciated horse is doing OK. He was not so food aggressive last night and even let me scratch his ears. He's still anxious for his food, but isn't pinning his ears and charging me any more. I just keep talking to him and telling him what a good boy he is. I did growl at him once, but he was a love last night - he's just hungry and his hip bones are breaking through the skin. He started pooping Wednesday, so that's a really good sign. We just have to get him past the 2 week mark. Often they are doing great and they hit that 2 weeks and then crash.
I will miss going down there tonight, but I'm also really glad I don't have to!
Opening day of deer season tomorrow - which is equivalent to a National Holiday around here. I don't hunt any more, but am heading up to the farm around noon to see how everyone did. My step-daughter usually never misses deer season, but she broke some ribs a few weeks ago, so won't be making the trip here from Virginia. This also means I get some days all to myself! Setting hubby's alarm for 4 am.
