Good afternoon.
We're having another sequence of rainy days. Perfect for hibernation. I did get to Pilates this morning.
Gerry, the rain was so awful yesterday that I cancelled the Comox trip and went to our local Nanaimo hospital. Could not find a parking spot! Drove around for a bit and then went up to the local Parksville Community Care Centre as they do imaging, too. No parking spots there, either. It was a long shot as the parking there is always brutal but I wasn't expecting that! The residential streets around these places don't allow street parking, either. I'll try the Comox hospital next week. There's a Home Depot nearby where I can park if need be.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Gerry, the emaciated horse is doing OK. He was not so food aggressive last night and even let me scratch his ears. He's still anxious for his food, but isn't pinning his ears and charging me any more. I just keep talking to him and telling him what a good boy he is. I did growl at him once, but he was a love last night - he's just hungry and his hip bones are breaking through the skin. He started pooping Wednesday, so that's a really good sign. We just have to get him past the 2 week mark. Often they are doing great and they hit that 2 weeks and then crash.
I will miss going down there tonight, but I'm also really glad I don't have to!
Opening day of deer season tomorrow - which is equivalent to a National Holiday around here. I don't hunt any more, but am heading up to the farm around noon to see how everyone did. My step-daughter usually never misses deer season, but she broke some ribs a few weeks ago, so won't be making the trip here from Virginia. This also means I get some days all to myself! Setting hubby's alarm for 4 am.

Good Morning everyone. Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready to start your day! I wonder if the recent solar...electromagnetic...storm on the sun is playing havoc with the internet and other electronics. I read somewhere that these storms can damage satellite electronics as well as affect power grids and the internet. Draclvr I do hope the rescue horse continues to do better. Hagatha hope you get the imaging next week at the hospital...is the pain getting worse? Oldbroad I hope the fiber optic install goes smoothly. I think ATT will run the fiber optic cable to your house and inside they will install modems with a wifi connection to give you internet and a landline...hopefully it will go well. Have a Great Day everyone! Gerry

Good morning everyone. Yes indeed Fogfighter, it's great to see we're back up and running. Glad to hear your new rescue is making progress Draclvr. You should enjoy the fiber OldBroad. Hagatha you should get some orange traffic cones and put them in a parking spot the night prior. Shopping, errands and chores today. But first time for a cup of WADDB and Bagel. Have a wonderful weekend everyone

Good morning everyone.
Gerry, my shoulder feels better for days at a time and then the pain ratchets up and becomes debilitating.
It's another rainy, rainy day here. I'm off for a pedi and then may lunch.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Saturday afternoon. Blech, it's strange weather - actually hot and in the 80's.
Unfortunately, the horse went down this morning. Not unexpected, but dam*. He's a very, very big guy and they are afraid he won't make it because it's so hard to get him up and keep him on his feet. They have him back up for now, but this is going to be touch and go.
Got a pound of fresh shitake mushrooms yesterday. Our horse trainer at the Ranch has a friend who grows them. Now I have to figure out what to do with all of them!

Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. Oldbroad I know what you mean about being tired and going to bed early and not being able to sleep...even with my 2 walks a day my mind gets cluttered with thoughts at night. Draclvr I'm so sorry to hear about the rescue horse. I hope he makes it. Hagatha I hope the tests will help find the cause of your shoulder issue and it can be resolved easily. It is raining right now, but should be over by daybreak...a cloudy chilly Sunday forecast for today. I have a movie to watch this afternoon called The Penguin Lessons...based on a true story...looking forward to it. Have a Peaceful Sunday everyone. Gerry

Good morning everyone. Enjoying WADDB and bagels while getting ready for a little yard work. Yes indeed Connie, positive thoughts and prayers for your rescue Draclvr. I guess the ranch doesn't have an ER stall with a ceiling winch they can use to help him up? You would have to keep a sling on him...but don't anything about horses and/or whether that is even practical. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone

Good Sunday morning. Not going to be so stinking hot today... 58 instead of 82.
I texted the caretaker to see if Mr. Gobbles stayed up overnight, but haven't heard back. I might run down there and check on him today. We do have stalls with a ceiling, but what works better is a hoist which we also have. They may have to resort to setting up that apparatus to get him up. Problem with a huge horse like this is he won't stay in it. To a great degree, it's just a waiting game. They usually go down around the 10 day mark, but he went down at the 6 day mark, so I hope he can get past it. He spent a few days at a vet clinic before he came here, so it's just a wait and see if his body can recover from the abuse and starvation.
