Good Sunday morning.
Not good news about Mr. Gobbles the horse. Josh is the caretaker who lives down at the Ranch. When he went down to do the night feedings and checks at 9, the horse was down again and he couldn't get him up. He called the Ranch manager who didn't get back with him for a couple of hours. In the meantime, the horse had gotten cast against one of the stall walls. Being cast means he is up against a wall with his legs against the wall. In that position, they can't get any purchase to stand up. Usually you have to flip them over, which is NOT easy and usually involves ropes. I had a couple of cast horses I had to get up when I was doing the closing by myself for a year back in 2014. Finally Josh's wife and son came down to the barn and they got him flipped over. She told me he was just spent and they were going to wait and then try to get him up. That was at midnight and I have heard anything since then.

Good Monday morning. I got super busy yesterday and forgot to come back to update on the horse.
After they got him flipped over and gave him some time to get enough strength back to get sternal, they left him with some food and water in a shallow pan. When they are able to get sternal, that means they are still laying down, but the front end is up on their chest and the head is up. That means he wasn't crushing his internal organs with his own weight. They left about 1 am and went to bed. Carole texted me the next morning saying he had gotten up on his own and was waiting for breakfast when the early shift came in. So, it's more wait and see!

Whew...yes, so happy to hear Mr Gobbles was able to get up on his own! Keeping Mr Gobbles in my prayers. Hello everyone, grabbed a cup of WADDB and bagel on the way to an appt this morning. OldBroad, I listen to my ambient (whale) music every day...my kids gave my ambient music the "whale music" nickname. Yes, yesterday was the winter solstice Fogfighter...any special events for the day? Wishing you all a wonderful day
Dan

Good afternoon everyone.
Another rainy day. The vet tech was supposed to come and to trim Willow's nails today but I guess she forgot the appointment.
Glad to hear that Mr. Gobbles made it back up on his own. He's come so far. Poor thing.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
