Good Saturday morning. The WADDB is really hitting the spot this morning. It's more seasonable this morning, so quite chilly.
It's time to start getting the spare bedroom ready for step-daughter and her SO who be arriving on Tuesday. He had cataract surgery, so they couldn't be here for Christmas. So, we have one more gathering next Saturday. I am SO ready for it to all be over so I can go back to my hermit mode for the rest of the winter!

Good morning everyone.
Coffee was most welcome this morning. It's pouring rain here and I am happily in my winter hermit mode already. It's so awful I'm cancelling my plan to drive into town this morning.
My most pressing decision today will be whether to watch something or play a game.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! Fogfighter thanks for the emergency coffee! Oldbroad I still have my landline on copper wire. Fiber optic cable has not come my way yet...my street is literally at the end of the line and Frontier does not want to pay to run it down my street. They will no longer maintain the copper cable unless their is a trouble reported...then they will fix it. I like having a "real" landline because the phone works when we lose power. Hope you all enjoy your Sunday! Gerry

Good morning everyone. We still have a landline -- and had to switch to fiber years ago...so when power is down so is the landline...but we do enjoy the faster upload/download speeds with the fiber. I remember those days when power was down but we still had a copper landline that worked. C'est la vie... Have a wonderful Sunday everyone

Good morning everyone.
There's a howling gale outside this morning. No doubt we'll have a power outage at some point today. Fortunately I have my portable generator all charged up and ready to go.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Same here, soot !! 😁 I certainly don't experience any of the weird noise/disturbance described by oldbroad

Good Sunday morning. Being well-prepared is a good feeling, hagatha.
I liked my land line, but could no longer manage the telemarketers and spammers no matter what I did. I finally gave up. They don't maintain the phone lines out here in the country and we had problems constantly too. The cell phones are leaps and bounds better. I might get two or three spam calls a week, but as long as I keep up with them blocking and deleting, they are totally manageable. With the landline, it was 15 - 20 a day and more. For power issues, I got a couple of power banks that I can charge up phones, laptops or whatever. We are seldom out more than a few hours, but I've used them a couple of times.
Oldbroad, you are not supposed to have noise and interference on your fiber optic phone line. It sounds like you need to call them and report this.

I changed my (fibre) Landline Set-Up some time ago (I have a base unit + one extension) to instruments that have a built in blocking system for unwanted calls.
Callers won’t get through unless they first identify themselves and I then give or don’t give my permission. And I can choose to deny or accept the current call only or every call made by that person.
I do also have a Cell Phone but I use it as little as possible. I really don’t like them.

Mad, I would dearly love to have a fiber setup like that! But like Gerry, out here in the country, there are not interested in providing it... not profitable enough I assume.

Good morning everyone.
I woke up very early this morning for so the coffee is much needed. This happens to me when I'm worried about something but haven't quite worked out what the problem is. This morning I realized what's bothering me; my brother-in-law in Southampton hasn't responded to my email from New Year's, which is not like him. I'll have to try phoning him but he rarely picks up and doesn't have an answering machine.
It's still pouring today. Fortunately we don't get flooded in my area because we're on a tiny peninsula and the water drains away but parts of BC are flooding. I don't have to go anywhere today but eventually I'll have to emerge for groceries.

Good Monday morning. Cold and sunny... normal for January.
Nothing much going on here - just finishing up clearing out the spare bedroom for step-daughter and her SO. On Friday she will be baking her mom's coffee cake recipe to give to family on Saturday. I think she makes about 15 of them! So, I've got to get my kitchen cleaned up for her. I just stay out of the way and let her have at it!
