I will have to check and see if there is a guide in the original game one of these days.
I finished The Legacy: Prisoner today and have since started Secrets of Salem: The Phantom Cab, which I am really enjoying. All the reviews I saw were bellyaching about the lack of voiceovers which is not in and of itself a deal-breaker for me. I am glad that I don't give much credence to reviews as I would have missed out on some games that I liked very much.

It's been a long time since I've played the first part of True Fear, but most people sure seemed to like it. I think you are the first one I know with a dissenting opinion.
I am currently playing Lost Lands: The Wanderer CE and am in the middle of the bonus game.

I guess I was just expecting something different because it did get so much hoopla. It is not the first time I'm the *odd man out*. I haven't really decided if I like the game or not but it is tedious, one way or the other.

I think the second and third games are more complicated, for better or worse. I believe 8dognight has a write-up about it in the Recommendations thread here on the forum.

I just went back to the Recommendations thread to re-read what 8dognight wrote and frankly, I found what she wrote to be as tedious and harder to follow than the games.

Now I am wanting to replay the first game and then play parts two and three. My memory just isn't that great anymore and part one should feel like a new game.
And I just re-read 8dognight's comments on the second part of the game and found them to be quite entertaining and informative. Different strokes, I guess.
