Ob, I have the original CD and am running it in DOSBox.

Unfortunately several of Legend's games (Companions of Xanth, Shannara, Blackstone Chronicles, Gateway, Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, and more) were based on books and thus would require the permission of the author or the author's estate to distribute them). This is probably why we won't be seeing these on GOG or Steam anytime soon.

GOG actually put up Death Gate (another game based on a book) years ago and I grabbed it immediately, being very surprised that it had been released. I wrote to Bob Bates (founder of Legend Entertainment) telling him how great it was to see it and would we be seeing more of these titles, and he said that he had nothing to do with it and that it probably would not be for sale for very long. And he turned out to be right: Death Gate was removed from the website a few weeks later, sadly. Fortunately it's from GOG so I have it backed up.

I bought and played those wonderful “Legend” games but, at that time, In order to afford to buy a fresh game I had to sell another game first, so I no longer have them 😱

I too traded away and sold a lot of my older games, Mad. Fortunately at least some of them have shown up on GOG and made re-acquiring them a lot more affordable.

I had re-purchased Blackstone Chronicles from Allvideo some time ago with a Win 7 Installer. I don't know if it works in Win 10 or 11 as I haven't tried it in 10 and don't have 11. The game on his site now shows Win 10 & 11 but I don't know if it all works the same. I should probably try it out some day.

Mad, are you planning on getting Shannara?

I think your Blackstone Chronicles probably will work on Win 10, ob, but that's just a hunch and of course I could be wrong.

When the game was first released, I remember paying between $40 and $50 for it...which was pretty much the standard price for any new adventure game. This of course included the box and the manual and any other stuff that came with it.

Yes. Absolutely !! That's why I had to "trade or sell" before I could "buy" whistle

And I would have to add on postage from the USA now - as Chris no longer seems to host a site in the UK.

It all adds up scared
