Good morning everyone.
I'm off for a walk in an hour or so, and then I'll call my mother. She's 95, still completely compos mentis, and writing a sequel to her (unpublished) historical fiction novel. Wow. Just wow. Definitely a force to be reckoned with! everyone.

Good Monday morning. Sunny and heading for 80 degrees F today - and so far anyway, no wind! Hopefully it will dry the garden out so we can get those tomatoes in tomorrow or the next day.
Even though it was Mother's Day, I did get 12 new giant grasses planted yesterday. I lost all my 15' tall arborvitae trees by the pool this winter and it is very bare. It will be a few years before they get tall enough to provide a screen. The Germans seldom wear any clothes out by the pool, so they will have to chance the neighbors being outside! Luckily they aren't real close.
That sounds like a wonderful trip, connie! Memorial Day is fast approaching.

Good morning everyone.
As I was finishing off the power washing yesterday I noticed a wonderful thing -- one of my Wisteria vines has finally flowered, just four blooms, but a first for these vines. I was very disappointed when year after year they didn't bloom. My landscaper suggested that they might not be old enough yet, and it looks like she might be right. Anyway, perhaps next year I'll have a nice display; they grow over an arbour and feature prominently in my garden and so far they've just been greenery.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good day everyone; It's only 58F, cloudy & windy. Off to the dentist for 2 fillings, I hate the dentist. Have a great day everyone.

Good afternoon everyone. Hope your day has been everything you wanted Monday to be. Oh my Draclvr, it is a very good thing you live somewhat secluded...how did you lose all of your 15' tall arborvitae trees by the pool? It's been a busy day here with hummingbird feeders, seed bird feeders, groceries and gaming on the side. Look forward to relaxing after dinner. Take care everyone

LOL! Oldbroad, Europeans don't have the same hang-ups we do about nudity! After over 25 years we've gotten used to it. I tease Petra about knitting in the nude!
Soot, here in mid-Missouri we are kind of at the southern end of the ideal climate for arborvitaes. They do better in cooler wetter climes. They were about 12 years old, so getting towards the end of their life span here anyway. But what clinched it was the extreme drought and heat we had for weeks on end last fall. I watered and watered and watered them, but it just wasn't enough.
Hagatha, I seem to remember reading somewhere that wisterias need 5 years before they bloom.

Draclvr, these vines are now 9 or 10 years old. I assume they were planted the year after the house was built. They hadn't been pruned for at least a year when I bought the place; they were just a huge mess of trailing tendrils all over the place. They've now had two years of professional pruning so maybe that's what they needed. Anyway, It was a nice surprise.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
