As the Steam page says, “all is not right at Miscatonic University,” which as anyone who has ever been there will know, probably goes without saying. A key institution in the Cthulhu mythology, it’s an Ivy League centre for the study of the arcane, not to mention its practice. Which tells you a fair bit about where the narrative is likely going. A sequel to the earlier game Call of the Sea, this game does a good job of drawing out the linkages. While you don't need to have played that game, my personal enjoyment was certainly enhanced by that earlier experience and I expect yours will be too. One previous character is front and centre, another an intriguing touch. Find out more in flotsam's review of ******** Call of the Elder Gods ********

Well, I'm already 13.5 hours in and am still in Chapter 4, so I am already past flotsam's estimate of 8 to 10 hours of play time. I have to disagree with not needing pen and paper. I have about 5 pages of written notes because I need to organize them into one area rather than go back and forth in the journal (for some of the puzzles). I still ended up needing to look at the hints for Chapter 3 and eventually the answer. I was close but too tired of the puzzle to keep going with it. Not sure if I'll make it through Chapter 4 on my own yet. I still need to make a few more attempts. I also disagree that the circle cursor works well. It is increasingly getting more fiddly and hard to get it to where I want it.
This game is okay but I preferred Call of the Sea. Has anybody else played it? Mikael? Orion?
flotsam, not trying to disagree with you and your review. Just pointing out a little different experience for me.
