The outing was nothing exciting. But it was okay. smile

Your feelings are understandable. I never got into Steam but I know a lot of people swear by it. I have most of my non-casuals from GOG.

If GOG had the casual games, I'd buy them there. (I know they have some but not many.)

I came across this page on Big Fish today, some of which information was new to me.

Thanks Marian! I've never asked for a refund on any game site.

Marian, I am so sorry that I am anti Big Fish lately but here is another example - unless I am just not reading something correctly?

The current sale - there is a big dark blue? box next to the picture of a woman in a hat. At the bottom of that box it says Members 50% off, Non-Members 30% off. Then below that it shows only 20% off for Non-Members and 20% is what I am seeing on all the prices I look at. (I know in some of the sales the older games will show a better discount. That is not what I'm seeing here though.) What happened to the 30% shown in the big box there? They just don't seem to know what they are doing anymore.

No need to apologize, ob. It's perfectly okay to call them as you see them.

I am not sure about your question because I am seeing pretty much everything discounted at 50% off as a Game Club member except for those little bite-sized sale games or whatever they call it (and it's all displaying correctly). However, there definitely seems to be a discrepancy between the 30% and 20% mentioned for non-members. I have seen discrepancies like this before. What I ultimately always go by is the price that shows up in my shopping cart at checkout. I think that Big Fish is either a) short-staffed, or b) having problems with the software, or a combination of both.

What kind of a discount do you get when you put a game in your shopping cart? Just curious.

I haven't put a game in my cart but I would expect it to show the 20% off price as shown on the game pages. I wrote to them again and I think I got the screenshot in there for them to see. You know, the sale is for the weekend and they don't work on the weekend so this could put people off from buying something while it is being fixed (which will be after the sale is over), but hopefully, they will be more careful in the future. Unless they hope people see 30% and don't pay attention to the fact that they may only get 20%. I am not looking to buy anything even at 30% off. I made an exception the other day with the 35% off because I know I will have to adjust to go with their adjusted prices.

Wait, let me just go check.

Yup, shows 20% off only. But get this. The game I put in my cart is 7.99 which normally would get me 7 points. It shows I'll get 8 points if I purchase it (which I'm not). Rounded up instead of down.

Thanks for checking; I suspected that would be the case. I am very glad that you have taken the time to write to them and to send a screenshot. They need to know about this stuff.

Interesting about the rounding-up, too.

You know, I keep putting them down and I am not taking back anything I've said, but I do think they are trying to get everything running smoothly. I just think maybe they don't have the properly experienced people and (as you said) are probably short staffed.

I agree. I recently have been exchanging emails with a guy in senior technical support who is really terrific, for example. There just needs to be more of him to go around. I think it's possible that folks handling the website are doing double-duty and have one or more job descriptions. I don't have any inside information about this, but it is plausible when you realize how many people have been let go and that there are far fewer employees than there used to be.

Yeah, but that doesn't get sympathy from me for Big Fish. I do think that they are trying to do something with the site that may turn out good at some point (hopefully), but I also feel that they did some stupid things (that have all already been discussed here). smile That's why I won't take back any of the bad things I've said and thought but I do believe they have some vision and goal they are going for and I hope they reach it soon and that it will make up for the turmoil. Does that all make sense?

So, I decided to place an order for yet some more Match 3 games during today's one day sale and guess what. I noticed that I have 1 extra point on my account than what I had before. I guess they decided to give me the point that I complained about. Of course, the prices today are that odd pricing that leaves me 3 points short this time. I won't complain as apparently this is how they do it now and I will have to accept that.

Edit: Oh my, I guess it is extra points day because I got 15% (minus those 3 points)! happydance

All things considered, that sounds about right.

I have made two or three purchases this past month with no errors in the awarding of points. I have felt hopeful in the past that this was getting straightened out and then it did not after that, so I am not going to assume anything. It has been nice, though, being awarded the correct number of points three times in a row. We shall see how long my winning streak continues.

The BF representative on the Facebook Big Fish Fans page said that they were going to make sure they took a closer look at this allocating of points because many people were complaining about how often it was incorrect. Perhaps they have begun looking into it.

Whatever the reason, I am glad that you got those points. smile

I added to my post above, too.
