Like the original Gothic, there's a point where all of a sudden you have the armour and sword and skill you need to take on heavier enemies, and I've reached that point. Snappers, beware!
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hurrah !! I played most of the quests I wanted to in Gothic 3 Enhanced and have since moved on to the original Gothic 3 (from GOG) and am once again enjoying myself very much π Definitely a Gothic fan !! π

Yes. Although I had MUCH enjoyment with the enhanced version, the original Gothic 3 is a different (and better) cup of tea and Iβm really glad to be able to experience the play of both of them π¬

I just might have to fire up Gothic 3 when I'm finished with Gothic remake. I always had technical issues with it but maybe the third time will be the charm.
Anyway, finally made it to Xardas's tower. I remember all the locations from the OG, but everything is so different. The new graphics change everything.
Also the music is quite wonderful.

I have rather a lot of Gothic versions !! π Quite a few on discs (including a compilation disc) - plus some downloads from GOG. The version of Gothic 3 I'm currently playing is a download from GOG and is the best, most stable version, in my opinion. [It's one I bought when it was in a sale.] Anyway, I'm very glad to hear you are having such a good time with the remake

I probably have two versions of Gothic 3 at least -- one on Steam and one on GOG.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

So, I'm now in Chapter 5 and seriously regretting my choice to become a mage. Most of the high-level spells take so long to cast my targets have sauntered right up to me and bashed in my head before I get a chance to launch even one! Should have stayed with the good old Strength/Dex build.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Well, I am technically a level 5 mage but in reality, I loaded up my strength jewellery and hacked my way through the Orc Temple in Chapter 5 wearing the upgraded Gomez Ore armour. Casting spells-=dead hero. Hack and slash= dead Orc Shaman. Honestly, the spells are painfully slow. Much better to race in and give the Orcs a good whack on the noggin.

I was worried that my middle-of the road character wouldn't be able to take on the end game but managed it without too much trouble. if I play again I would definitely go two-handed plus backup magic.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

So, yes, it's good fun. I did two runs through it. If you liked the originals, you'd probably like the remake.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

For those who have Gothic 2 Gold Edition from GOG, there is a free mod for the game here that looks interesting.

Interesting. I love the way these old games are coming back to life. The Gothic Remake was a lot of fun and brought back a lot of memories.
The thing I remember most about Gothic 2 is the moment when you finally head back to the valley and the Gothic 1 music comes on for the first time.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Thank you very much, Marian, for that info. I'll be looking into it. However, for now, I'm chopping and changing some more of my Gothic gaming !! Because I'm not as keen on Gothic 2 Gold as I was on the original Gothic 2 .... I've done something about it .... I first totally uninstalled the Gothic 2 Gold version I'd been playing via GOG GALAXY then returned to GOG and downloaded the "Back Up Only Files" for Gothic Gold 2 plus the "Vanilla Patch". This gave me access to an INI file where, with a small alteration, I could create a Quick Save feature. YEAH !!!! [As only 20 saves appear to be available with either version of the game and those saves can obviously get used up in no time, a Quick Save facility is really a necessity.] And with other small tweaks available here and there, I am now enjoying the game as it was originally created - and loving it
