Things to try. Update your direct x 9.0c to which ever the latest edition of 9.0c is. Try new drivers for the gfx card. Let us know your specs like gfx card will help us too to make sure it has all the important bits the game needs and has enough vram.

My guess is tho that your either on a laptop and have a unsupported gfx card or on the desktop with a intergrated chipset like a intel graphics chipset which probably isnt supported.

If that is indeed the case then a upgrade will be in order.

Please post your system specs. The system specs can be found in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool by clicking start->run->type dxdiag->click ok. If you are running Windows Vista and do not have the "run" command, then type dxdiag in "search".

We need the following information:

Under the System Tab:

1. Operating system
2. Processor model and speed.
3. Amount of memory (RAM)
....then click the Display Tab:
4. Video card brand and model.
5. The driver version.

We need you to post your video driver version. It's a series of numbers next to the word "version" under dxdiag-->display.

At any rate, you probably do need a new video card. You'll be running into this problem frequently with that old video card trying to play the newer games.

The Geforce MX4 lacks pixel shader support which many of the newer games need. We can try updating the drivers. If it doesn't help, then I'd say it's time for a new video card. I'm not entirely sure if this game requires pixel shader support.

Don't dispair though. A video card is easy to install. You can get a decent upgrade at a relatively low cost. We can also help you with what type of card to choose and detailed instructions for installing. We'll cross that bridge when we get there. For now, just give us that driver version smile

gf4 mx 4000 isnt fully direct x 9 compatible so im afraid its the video card thats holding you back. You need a upgrade as a driver will not help im afraid.

Robet, the game does require pixel shader support.

Something like a cheap gf 4 ti4200 or a cheap 6800 or a ati 9800pro which all should come under 40-50 pounds (duno in dollars). They should work with average psus as well as they dont draw the power like very modern cards do. And can be on agp which is probably what your on. To be sure we would need to know the motherboard you are using to understand what upgrade options are open to you and guide you to what would be best. Also a budget would help to know so we can get you the best for the money you can spare on the upgrade.

=====================================

hoechst2003,

If you need help choosing a video card, please post the model number of your HP computer. As Skeeter said, we need to look up some information to determine what your options are.

If you do not know your computer's model number, then go back into dxdiag. Under the system tab, post what it says next to "System Model". It should be a series of letters and numbers. "Pavillion 061" is not enough information. There should be more.

Some of the older Nvidia 6 series video cards draw much more power than some of the newer 7 series cards. At any rate, let's look up your PC's info before we point you to any specific video cards. We really need to find out for sure what power supply is in your computer smile

If you're worried about the installation, take a look at these videos if you have a cable or DSL internet connection. You can see how simple it is.

Video 1

Video 2

Upgrading your computer with a better video card will allow you to meet any adventure game's system requirements for at least 2 or 3 more years.

What can i say i like to help people. smile

6.14.0010.9371- is the driver for the gfx card, but as i said the driver info is now voided info, as we know its the gfx card that is the problem. So we need the make and model number of your computer base unit to find out what it has in its insides. Mainly the motherboard.

I think that model has just a pci slot there is no agp or pcie which limits you alot. There are some i think pci slots with the geforces 6xxx range though which might be your best bet.

Here are the manufacturer's specifications for that computer. **Click here***

Here are the motherboard specifications ***click here***

Skeeter is correct. Unfortunately that computer has no AGP slot for adding a regular type video card. The Geforce 4 MX4000 was also available in PCI form. Apparently that's what you have. PCI and PCI-Express are totally different. A PCI-Express type card would not fit in your computer.

Your computer has a 250W power supply. This is te best PCI video card you can use in that computer.

ATI X1550.

Or ATI X1300
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129062

If you're on a tight budget. Here's the cheaper 6200 Skeeter was referring to.

I'd say your best option would be to buy a newer computer. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hoecst2003

If you plan to get a new videocard, the ATI X1300 aswell as the Nvidia Geforce 6200 card are supported cards for Dremfall.

I think that X1300 is better than the Nvidia Geforce 6200, so if you can afford it, you should get the ATI X1300 card.

Also, please note that Dremfall takes up 7-10 GB (gigabyte) hard disk space. A 20 or 40 GB hard disk could easily be filled up with games...
