I hope I'm not all alone in this dilemma.

I'm a lover of HOGs from way back to the first Mystery Case Files. And I had to have them all.

Well, now I'm addicted to IHOGs and I just have no patience or enthusiasm for regular HOGs now!

So I have to ask, do you still get excited for HOGs or do you wait for IHOGs only?

If the HOG has a well written story and crisp clear graphics, I still enjoy them, but do find myself favoring the IHOGs. I appreciate really well done HOGS and so usually I still purchase them to encourage developers to keep doing them well. I have been passing on the ones with poor English or poorly written stories or really hard to find items.
I am so glad that BFG has such a good price for games as I have well over 100 so far. happydance

I prefer an IHOG but will play a straight HOG if I like it after the Demo wave

I may not have gone where I intended to go,but I think I have ended up where I need to be.

Being kinda new to casual games, what is an IHOG? Is that like MCF: Return to Ravenhearst? What are a couple of examples of each category...thanks...

IHOG's are Interactive Hidden Object Games. Yes, I would consider MCF:RTR an IHOG.

Hidden Secrets, E.A.Poe, these are IHOG's.

I love HOG's but I too now lean more towards the IHOG. It is more like an adventure/mystery with Hidden Objects screens.

So many games, so little time.

Well, since you guys corrupted me by talking so much about these HOG's and BigFish...i have a good amount of these games! Hogs, IHogs (and some match3's..love the Fishdom and HIdden Depths2!!). If the graphics are really good in the Hog i still enjoy them (and if they're not just showing the same location again, and again..that gets so tedious..but you can't always tell that on a 'trial'..(which in NO way is the fault of BF!)..i recently have enjoyed the IHOGs..more of a story and in addition to finding items-being able to interact with them...and i just love Adventure games and i have to say i have played an IHOG that was actually better than a couple of those that i paid a lot more than 6.00 for! I enjoy either 'hogs as long as no timed puzzle -like arcade style(ok if there is a Skip/or Auto solve), and you have option to play in Untimed mode..I have a bad eye so i Really appreciate the games that have good clear objects--you Can have an item in the 'shadows' and still make it visible and not a smudge...the developer just has to take a bit more care. So-i love them both! Keep 'em coming...and hope soon a new HIdden Expedition (as good as or better than their last one!!!)and something good also from the Ravenhurst people(as good as or better than Return to Ravenhurst!). I also have played a couple from SpinTop..(can't remember the full name) about a kid and a time machine and they were terrific as well--hope there are more of those to follow!

Hi, I'm new here and this is my first post so I hope this comes out okay.
I love HOGS, but enjoy IHOGs so much more. I have all the MCFs and fell in love with RTR and Madame Fate. Then I got into Dream Chronicles and I got hooked....they were far too short. It became a family affair with that game LOL, my daughter on her laptop and my 7 yr old graddaughter waiting for her turn on my PC LOL. After DC I was searching for more IHOGs and did find several good ones to play. Now I find that when I dld a new HOG (always use Big Fish), I too, can become bored by the end....sometimes in the first 15 minutes.... of the demo. I got so bored and itchy for a really good game that I decided to try the adventure game my daughter had on her account, Syberia 2. Well, it was difficult for me, but, interesting enough that I stuck with it to the end and truly enjoyed the game (thanks to the help I got from a Gameboomers Walkthrough).
So I thought I was just an oddball (as usual LOL) and find this topic. Thank you looney for posting this subject. happydance

I have to be honest and say that I don't even consider buying HOG's anymore, I just pass them by.

I agree about HOGs losing something after moving on to IHOGs, but still, I play a HOG from time to time just to improve my speed and recognition. I find it fun to just see if how the programming changes what it is I have to find and some of the interim games are diverting.

The IHOGs are more challenging and more like an old style adventure game. The IHOGs are really ramping up the graphics, puzzles and storyline too. HOGs can entertain just like Match3's, Babylonia for example, which I am currently captured in (just a temporary segue...)

I really like the IHOGs, but is there any way to tell them from the HOGs without using the trial period?

Either look at the threads started for each game and see comments or look at the walkthroughs and see what you need to do.

While I prefer IHOGS, if they are too complicated, I feel like I am playing an adventure game(which I like) but somtimes I want to do mindless game playing. I still like straight HOGS, as long as it has movment, like wind blowing, leaves falling etc.

My 2 cents?
That's why they still make Chocolate & vanilla IceCream
Sometime I'm in the mood for Chocolate,
and sometimes plain Vanilla....... think
But then there are those other times
when I want Chocolate & Vanilla Swirl! idea
