ok - I started this game a few days ago and am simply loving it BUT I get to the part where I get the egg from the cuckoo's nest. Then I try to go back to the train to play the cylinder I just found in the University Lab. The screen goes blank and I have to reboot - aaarrrggghhh.

Any suggestions please? I cant see that a patch is available - Maybe its my specs?? I am using an XP laptop - its not a great laptop!! Hmmmm.

I'm surprised you couldn't find a patch. All you need to do is run a Google search. In any case, always check with the distributer first.

Whether this will help you is hard to say. There may be other patches available. You'll just have to install the above or other patches and see what happens.

Rosaboomie (it's just TOO weird to call you that instead of your real avatar name!), that is the correct patch. But I'm not sure it will help your problem. That patch fixed issues with hyper-threading and a few other things. But it's worth a try. If it doesn't work, maybe you could get a saved game just past that point from someone. I checked the saved game database at Mystery Manor and did see any there.

Than you both for your replies. I actually DID go to The Adventure Company site - My only excuse is that it was 1 a.m. and I didnt look properly cos today I see the patch is so easy to find!!

ok - So I went back into the Syberia site and found a whole page of troubleshooting tips. I tried the simplest task which was to go into Windows Compatibility Mode - and voila - it worked for me. I have now managed to progress further into this great game now!

I'm having problems with Syberia 1 crashing on my Vista PC; I've installed all three patches and have the XP compatibility mode on, but the game keeps crashing in Valadilene when you enter the Voralberg factory gates for the first time and approach the fountain. Help!!

You may have to set the color depth to 16-bit and turn off anti-aliasing in the game, and then apparently reboot your computer for some reason.
There could also be a save problem, so check if you can save the game, exit, and reload.
