I'm doing this game again and have been trying to call some company to reorder some supplies, but it never lets me finish dialing. Some guy by the name of Frank keeps coming up (have already spoken to him). I have tried to dial in the a.m. (9:00) and early afternoon, but still can't dial that number. Is there something I still have to do before I can accomplish that task? Thanks.

Hi Butterfly,

Is this the order for the bubblewrap on 555-9963? You say you've already spoken to someone on this number? If so, you can cross the supply ordering off Nancy's To Do list. You won't be able to order any goods as the museum hasn't been paying its supply bills.

It is for the bubblewrap, but when I click on the phone to dial an outside number, Franklin Rose's number keeps coming up, so I haven't been able to dial the number for the bubble wrap. I do realize that they haven't been paying their bills, but thought I needed to speak with someone at the bubblewrap number anyway for them to tell me I couldn't order any more because the museum hadn't been paying their bill. I have tried to cross it off the list - but it won't cross off so something else needs to be done or someone talked to. Thanks Grad.

You should be able to manually enter the telephone number after pressing 9 for an outside line. The number won't appear at the bottom of the screen as Franklin Rose's does, you need to make a note of it from the printed list on the desk.

HERE's a YouTube excerpt if you're still having problems. Check at around 06:25.

luck

I have done that. The moment I press 9 for an outside line - Franklin Roses' number comes up. The first time time it happened, I hadn't looked at the phone, just started to punch in the phone number and then it started ringing before I even put in all the numbers. I looked up and Franklin Roses' number was there. Will try the 6:25 time.

Well, there is no 6:25 time, only on the hour, but decided to try another phone number and it worked. The reason - I had been trying to put in the area code for the bubble wrap place, and it wasn't needed - just the phone number. Thanks for the help anyway!

Now I'm stuck again. Can't seem to find Henrik at the bottom of the temple stairs. I have found the scarlet hand, analyzed it, talked to Joanna about it, went into the garden to find him, but according to the walkthrough{s}, he's suppose to have fallen down the temple stairs. I'm stopped. Have done about all I can do. Have talked to Alejandro and Sinclair a couple of times, but now they have nothing more to say. Joanna has been taken to the police station, have been to her office, got the key from her desk. One walkthrough says to take the file from the cabinet and give it to somebody, but no matter how many times I click on it, it stays where it is. Have changed the time a couple of times, but still no Henrik. Help please. Thanks.

I also got stuck at this same point when I last replayed the game. What finally unstuck me was to walk around the outside garden/exhibit area, taking the left-side exit to get out there, walking the complete way around and coming back in the other side. As I came back in, Henrik did his falling down the stairs routine and I was able to move on.

I have done both right and left sides, one walkthrough says to go in about 5 - 6 steps and then turn around and go back out. Did that one too, but will try it again. Should have asked if someone would have an idea of what time it should be. I've tried morning and afternoon. Glad to hear though that I'm not the only one that is having or has had this problem.

The replay didn't work, nor a different time. I'm sure there has to be something that clicks so he falls down those stairs, but am getting frustrated so will go back to a save and try again.

Thanks MaG. Hope I can get it to the disk, this is a new way of doing a saved game for me. I did go back to a saved game and looked at both walkthroughs and followed exactly where he was suppose to fall and still nothing. So am very glad for this save because I was going to give up and uninstall the game. Thanks.

Butterfly

I have hit a snag in ND - Scarlet Hand, and MaG had me click on a place where I could download a saved game (Henrik falling down steps at pyramid). I did download the game, but now I need to know how to get it on my Load/Save game on the ones I have saved previously. Haven't done this for about 3 years, so have forgotten how I did this before. Thought there was a place on GB that gave instructions on how to do it, but didn't see it. Thanks.

Thanks, L4L. wave

Butterfly, the file you have downloaded will be in zipped format, so you'll need to make sure to unzip it first. Hopefully you have either the WinZip or WinRAR programs installed on your computer. smile

Extract the save file to your desktop, and then move across into your save folder for this game, which if you have XP should be at:

C:\Nancy Drew\Secret of the Scarlet Hand

If you have any problems, just shout.

I did unzip the game (I feel like I've typed this before, but don't see where I submitted it) and I added it to my desktop. If you're talking about the folder on my desktop (the ND icon with Secret of the Scarlet Hand underneath), I have clicked on the saved game and put it on top of the ND folder. My question is, since this is an older game, there really is no place to number a saved game. If you click the word "Save" it will say "your game has been saved." So if the saved game has been added to the folder, will it say anything different other than Load/Save, or do I have to click on each word LOAD to see if it is there? Sorry to be such a bother on this.

No - not the folder on your desktop.
No - it will not say it is saved like when you are in gameplay.

You download the file to desktop.
You unzipped it.
Open the folder and check the label of the file inside. It should look like NANSSH#.SAV.

Now open My Computer.
Open C drive.Open Nancy Drew folder.
Open Secret of the Scarlet Hand folder.
Take out the file that has the same label as the one that is inside the folder in the desktop. Place it in a safe place.
Now you take the one inside the folder in desktop and place it (as replacement) inside the open Secret of the Scarlet Hand folder.
Close all folders. Play-load as usual.

Thanks MaG. Think I better print this page and save it. Thanks also for everyone's patience and explaining it so clearly.

Haven't replayed this one in years. I think it's one of the best Nancy Drew games. Hope you get to finish it butterfly. Enjoy! smile

Almost done with the game (whew!). Have hit another snag and not sure if anyone can help. I have 5 of the pieces, but am having a hard time getting the 6th piece which is suppose to be from the Chaco Canyon Cultural Center (I'm suppose to have 3 boxes - have received only 2). I have spoken to them once, but not about a replica of the carving. In looking at the walkthrough, I have done everything that I'm suppose to do before calling them again (talk to Henry Daddle and Penelope). Then apparently after speaking with the daughter call Chaco again. It rings once and then the word "rings" comes up in red and that's all it does is ring. I have tried at 9:00 a.m. and that's when they tell me the hours are from 10-6:00 p.m. unless it's a holiday and then they are closed, and then every hour after that - nothing. I have changed the time to the next day, still nothing. One thing I have not completed on my list is to "reorder the Maya numbering system." Now I went to the place where all the "plaques" are, lifted them up to see numbers underneath and changed them around until Nancy says, "that's it" or something like that. Is that what they mean by "reorder" or is there something else that needs to be done because when I go back to cross it off my list, it won't cross off (Henrik was suppose to tell me what to do, but hasn't). And, of course, because I can't order any bubble wrap, that won't cross off. So hopefully someone will be able to tell me why I can't call that cultural center back and why I can't cross off that one item (not the bubble wrap). Thanks.

I think the Mayan Numbers might be the exhibit puzzle.
You posted that you redid this.

Scroll through this walkthrough by TallyHo and check the Exhibit part. See if you need to redo that part.

I have been using TallyHo's walkthrough. I did the Mayan Numbers (switching them so they are numbered correctly) twice and she says the same thing that "that's it."

Isn't there a part that you have to do the control panel also?

Not sure what you mean by "control panel." I checked another walkthrough and was finally able to get through to the Chaco Canyon place and finally got the final piece and able to cross everything off my list except for the bubble wrap item. I have made all the pieces into a cube (key). Now the walkthrough I'm following talks about going into the Temple/Tomb area and to click on the "keyhole" side of the Temple and rotate the cube 4 times. There is only one side that looks like a shield with 4 holes in it. I have clicked on it and ND says, something is missing. I tried to put the cube into one of the small holes (I know, there's no way it would fit). Then they say to rotate the cube 4 times. Is that the cube I'm holding in my hand or this structure that could be called a cube or I guess in TAllyHo's he calls it a Monolith. Then it says to insert the key. Am I suppose to have a supply of keys to put in these holes? Just not sure how to work this last part with keys and the cube. Thanks again.

The panel in the storeroom.

The key is the cube that you made - so look for a side with a square that might be the right size for that cube key you made.

The cube is that big thing at center of the area.
