I have asked several people about where these saved games are located. So far I have not been able to find any. They have to be somewhere because they are "saves." I really hope someone can help me. I like to avoid asking for saves, but would still like to know. Thanks.

Um, which game? Saved games are generally a function of the game itself. Depending on the game, I have saves in Documents and I have saves in the game file itself. It all depends...

I don't have the game, but the first thing I would do is a search on your computer. Click on Start and in the search box just type in Yoomurjak and see what it comes up with. You can right click on some of the results and select Properties and it will tell you the path.

And, of course, look in the game file itself. Windows 7 normally installs in Program Files(x86) unless you specify otherwise.

Draclvr: I did a search. I don't get any folder except the Yoomurjak folder, which I've also searched. When I downloaded the game, I was told to create a folder. However, the download made its own folder anyway. I'm about to scream. Thanks for your help.

What files did you find in the Yoomurjak folder? Sometimes saves are named kind of oddly or are tucked away in a subfolder. Is there a Private Moon folder anywhere?

Have you tried looking in the either the AppData folder or the ProgramData folder? These are both hidden by default. To get them to appear, open windows explorer, in the top left there is an Organise button - select it and then select "Folder and Search Options". Click the "View" tab and select "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

This is if you are on Win7.

There is another folder in Program Files called Common Files, you might want to check there as well.

They're sometimes stored in a hidden folder named AppData. From the Run command (press the Windows Logo Key+R) enter shell:appdata and press enter.

You'll see the folder on the Address Bar, press the arrow next to AppData and peruse to the Local folder.

Draclvr: Files found: Data; DirectX;3 unins choices;and the Yoormujak folder.
mjc: I followed your steps and still didn't find any saves. (I've been looking at the dates also and doesn't help).
InlandAZ: followed your steps. There are a lot of folders, but none appear to be the one I'm looking for.
I really appreciate all of your help.

Have you tried searching for "save(ed) files." It's a shot in the dark, but they have paid off in the past.

Also, do you have just one HD or do you have an expansion drive? If you have an expansion drive perhaps the saves are there.

On my computer with XP there is a Save folder in
C:\Yoomurjak\Data\Save

Inside the Save folder is
a folder called level_00
and a file called agon.sav

Inside the level_00 folder are the individual saves agon_01.sav agon_02.sav agon_03.sav etc.

I don't know why the saves are named after agon and not yoomurjak, but since Private Moon Studios made both the Agon games and Yoomurjak's Ring, I can guess that the game engine they developed is naming all saves after Agon, their first game.

Anyway, try doing a search for agon_01.sav

Make sure your Windows is not limiting your search to specific folders if you want to search your whole hard drive.

Jenny100: I have searched agon (as shown above). Nothing comes up. There are no saves re agon or Yoomurjak. My game folder shows Dialogue, Movie and level_00.sfl. I checked this on line, and it is a sound file. I guess I'm out of luck. Thank you for your efforts.

If you're playing the game, and see your saves when you are at the load screen, then you must have the saved games somewhere.

Make sure your computer is set to search everywhere and not just the default locations. Also any recent files won't show up if it's only searching an index file and the index file has not been updated recently. So it might help to turn off indexing or force it to create a new index.

If that isn't helping, you can try searching using the command line.
Click the Start button and type

cmd

in the Start Search. Either click the Return button to <Enter> it or click the cmd.exe file that the Start Search finds to open the command Window.
Type

CD \

and <Enter> it to get to a C prompt like this: C:\>
Note that that's a backslash and not a forward slash and that there is a space in front of the backslash.

Then type

dir agon*.sav /s

and <Enter> it to start the search.
Don't forget the space before /s

One thing to note if Jenny100's new search criteria dosen't work:

In some cases in Windows 7 (and Vista) Save Games are stored in Documents\ (as Draclvr pointed out) and if you use a program like CCleaner and use it often it can wipe out your save games.
I remember reading this before in this Fourm where poeple lost their SGs and had to make an exception rule in CCleaner.

Just a thought

I think that was specific to Machinariam, Starcom, and had to do with the fact they were associated with Flash. I've never had CCleaner delete any of my other games saves. I did, however, have to restart Machinarium right after I had finally gotten past a really hard puzzle!

The location of the saves for Yoomurjak's Ring has not been changed for Windows 7 so they should be stored with the game files, just as it is described by Jenny100.
They are named Agon, this is required by the engine. They should not be anywhere else, unless the game is not run from the normal location (Program Files or equivalent). The search should bring some results as there must be Agon*.sav files somewhere, once the game is saved. (Prior to the first save it is not necessarily visible). An old but efficient tool is Total Commander, but make sure to select the appropriate directory for the search.

Thank all of you very much. Jenny100: I tried your search and found! them. It's quite a long path, but after users\myname\appdata\local\virtualstore\ ..... there they were. The virtual store was a new one. I almost gave up hope. It's great to also learn new things.
