Ok brain trust, here's one for you.

From some reason I can't access www.awem.com, and it doesn't matter whether I try using Opera, IE9, Google search, or Bing search.

I've tried to find any place in Opera, IE9, Avast, or Malewarebytes that was set to block this site. I didn't find anything, and I'm at a loss since others using IE9 can access the site.

Any thoughts what/where to check?

NOTE: A thought occurred to me, yes I do have them, so I went back and tried the link Ana left in the GM thread. After I got up from the floor I was looking at the Awem web site. Yo no se, except, suddenness come clearous.

I was wondering if you'd finally gotten there. Is there any option to allow it through your Firewall? I'm using the Windows 7 Firewall and didn't have any problems at all.

Curiosity strikes. I clicked on your link Homer.
Malwarebytes popped up saying it blocked access to a potentially malicious site.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate. If I looked in the right location in the Firewall settings, don't hold your breath I did, I didn't see anything blocking outgoing connections. It says all outgoing connections are allowed unless they meet set rules, then they're blocked. Not sure how I'd find out if Awem violates those rules. If indeed the Firewall is the problem.

That's the same thing I get, mariner. And I'll be danged if I know where in Malware to search for the problem.

Curiouser and curiouser! I have Malwarebytes and didn't get any such warning. This is what I get from WOT (World of Trust) which monitors my web browsing.

Before I could access Awem, I did try putting in the IP address. Nada, zip, zilch, zero.

And before I could access Awem, I check Firewalll, Avast, Malware, IE9, and Opera settings. All were set to allow connections.

It was only after checking all those that it, suddenness come clearous. I could access Awem just like any other site. Weird.

This is one that'll keep somebody scratching their head. grin

I punch in 208.76.172.2 as you suggested and malwarebytes still does not like it

I use Norton, which is a pretty good product these days - maybe Malware Bytes has a false positive fingerprint for the site. I've had a couple on instances where Norton has done that.

Does it state why it doesn't like it?

No it just says potentially malicious site.

I don't have any real interest just checked it out because Homer mentioned. At least it is not only him.

You are likely correct it is a false positive. It is a game site isn't it?

lol I just tried using the IP address to access Awem, which Malware didn't like the first time I tried, and it took me directly to Awem. As I said, suddenness come clearous. Or as Alice said, "curiouser and curiouser."
