Hi Inland if you were talking to me about clicking on the game icon on my desktop I tried that the only option it gives me is open and several other things but nothing about location where in the actual file would I change the settings? I opened the gameengine file and this is what it says do I type the settings in here or no please help me thank you[Video Device Settings]

If that's the content of the file you're supposed to change - I don't know what you intend to change it to... The resolution is already 1024x768 (pretty much a standard resolution).

And yes, that would be where you make your changes.

What values did you intend to use?

I am sorry I guess i don't know I just had seen in the steam forum where someone had told this other person who had the same problem to go into the game file hotel directory and change settings this is what the person in that forum wrote

1024x768, you can change the res in the gameengine.ini file which is in your steam\steamapps\common\dead mountaineer's hotel directory. You will likely need to do this as it seems your monitor does not support that res.

But I am confused to what exactly to do

Right click the .ini file and select Open With Notepad - about the only thing I see that you might want to change is the refresh rate. Change it from 0 to 60 and see if the game starts.

You just overtype the text in notepad and then save.

I changed mine to 1920x1080 it seems to work okay, so you could try whatever the monitor is set at normally

Just wanted to thank you guys for the fix for Dead Mountain..... I also had no curser and could not do anything... so I loaded DivX and the game started with the video and is working... thanks!!
