No, you don't pick them up--once you've figured out what the word is, just click on the flags in the order of the letters in the word...

Interesting how different people approach puzzles like this. I just checked on what the first one on the first page was, then poked around until I found a match. Then did the second one, etc. Of course as I got things matched, it became faster and faster. This beats a slider anytime--as long as it's not timed...
