Judith, I love McCammon's books. Lots of good reading.
I'm still working my way through The Wheel of Time. I'm enjoying it a lot more than I did last time I read it. Jordan was a good writer. I suspect that last time I read the books I was skim-reading, speed-reading, which I often did when I was still working. Since I retired I've slowed down my reading, and it makes a difference.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I finished Scalzi's The Human Division and The End of All Things and hope to get the 7th in the series very soon. In the meantime, I'm reading The Personals: The Human Stories Behind the Small Ads by Brian O'Connell.

I finished The Shattering Peace last night. It did not disappoint in any way. I wonder if Scalzi intends this one to end the series. It would be appropriate, but I could hope for more. In the meantime, there are more of his books I haven't read yet and other authors' stories crying for my attention. Life is good!

Marian, I remember it being pretty creepy, but it's been that long since I read it too. Need to see if I still have it somewhere.

I finished Making the Best of What's Left: When We're Too Old to Get the Chairs Reupholstered by Judith Viorst. I've read a couple of her funny "decade" books over the years, and although I'm still (only) in my 7th decade, I enjoyed her writing as she's navigating her 9th.
Right now I'm ensconced in Alliance Rising by C. J. Cherryh and Jane S. Fancher. It has been a long time since I read Downbelow Station, Cyteen, and the other books in the Alliance-Union universe, but this book has reminded me that It's time to reread them.

I'm finally past the logjam of the fourth, fifth and sixth books in the WOT series, and am back to really enjoying it now that the story is moving along again. Jordan sure did like to make much ado about nothing for hundreds of pages.
