Hi, I wrote the walkthrough.
The patch is only valid for the original game, In Memoriam (not Missing: Since January).
I added the emails, in my walkthrough, because I knew the game would go down (and MANY people would have problems getting through the game). I never bought the expansion because it wouldn't work with the original; the European version (In Memoriam). The expansion only worked with 'Missing: Since January.'
Perhaps the expansion's (The 13th Victim) is dead now (much like I had anticipated the original game to die out). Of course I have no idea whether it has or not, so don't take this statement to be truth.
I apologize for never writing a complete walkthrough for In Memoriam, Missing: Since January and the expansion 'The 13th Victim,' but I wasn't going to pay for a game I had already purchased (and I didn't like the game one bit).
There are only a couple differences between 'In Memoriam' and "Missing: Since January' (such as the VARI puzzle). As for the expansion, it was nothing more than a ploy, by The Adventure Company (TAC), to get more people to buy the game.
I cannot help, but maybe someone here, who has played through the expansion, can help you through the game without the emails for the expansion pack.
