Hi. I'm playing on an XP and was really liking Rhiannon until I got to the part where you're on her PC checking out the standing stone glyphs and deciphering them. I'd checked out the alphabet, deciphered the stone message and turned off Rhiannon's computer (you can't leave if you don't turn it off). I found myself stuck. I couldn't get off that screen. I replayed it and the same thing occurred. I could do anything else I wanted, open the menu, look at things in the inventory, etc, so it wasn't a frozen screen. I don't know what the problem is, can someone help? Thank you.

I wonder if this could be an interface problem rather than a glitch.
***Marita's walkthrough*** says:
Quote:
Close the frame. When you click the X at top right, something happens.

***Malcolm Schmidt's walkthrouth*** says:
Quote:
Click the 'envelope' to access Rhiannon's emails and read all the archived mail. Chapter One ends when you close the last email received from Jon on 2nd October. Note that you must scroll down to the end of this email before closing it.

Have you done these things?

When I first used her computer I went to a screen with a cat and the envelope.I clicked on the envelope to read her emails. When I clicked on the 'X' at the top right after reading the emails, I went back to the 'cat' screen. After making the rubbing of the standing stone and returning, the PC was still on the 'cat' screen. After doing all the deciphering, etc. I clicked the 'X' again, but this time I got a black screen. I can open the menu, start another game, check out stuff in the inventory, but I cannot move away from the PC. I have moved the cursor all around the screen searching for a hot spot so I can move away, but nothing. I started over with a saved game from there and still could not move away. I am using Marita's walkthrough also.

I've tried restarting from a saved 'blackened' computer screen and the game will NOT start. It has saved, but there is something wrong with it. I just redid everything, and followed the walkthrough and the note pad in the game, but her PC still does the same thing. The cursor should be a pointing finger. Thanks for your help.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game?

The "blackened" computer screen may be when the game is trying to play a cut scene -- and failing.

Which version of the game are you using?
The disc version or the Big Fish version?

I can try replaying the game up to where you are to see what's supposed to happen at that point. But I want to use the same version of the game that you're using -- disc or download.

No, I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling. The game is Big Fish's premium Edition (whatever that means)download. If I uninstall the game, will I be able to find my saved games (the ones I want to keep)? I haven't noticed very many 'cut scenes'. There are a few animated things: water, wind in trees and the ghosts, but those are handled ok.

Jenny, thank you so much for trying to help me and giving great advice. I finally got in touch with Karen who said; I'm one of the developers of Rhiannon from Arberth Studios. I'm so sorry to hear you're having problems. I'm afraid that sometimes the game data can become corrupted during the download especially if your anti-virus or firewall is running during the installation. It sounds very much like this could have happened to you.
She is helping me get this fixed, and I hope to be back in Ty Pryderi soon.

OK. I guess you're in good hands then.
I don't know whether the saves transfer in the Big Fish version.

My downloaded copy of Rhiannon was too corrupted for Karen (of Arberth games) to help me. But, with Big Fish helping me download a NEW copy of the game (hopefully) without Norton's being in use, I will be back playing (with Karen's offer of a saved game) right where I left off instead of having to start all the way back at the beginning! Thank you, Jenny, for your help as well.

How things change! Jenny, I replayed a sequence just before my 'glitch' and figured out the whole thing was MY mistake. I wasn't using a walkthrough although I had one. I did a part for the standing stones that I later found out there was computerized help for (except I did mine by hand) and as far as I'm concerned, this is why I got a black screen. I never saw the Ogam Translator Program and couldn't understand how what I wrote would matter on Rhiannon's computer. I had Marita's walkthrough, but really didn't read it, as I probably should have. The game is performing perfectly now. No glitch, no corruption and no problem. Thank you for you help, and I apologize for taking up your time.
